Who We Are

StrEAT Smart is a student-led digital magazine dedicated to showcasing the vibrant street vending culture along Taft Avenue. Created by Lasallians for fellow residents in Taft, our team is made up of Lasallian communicators (and food lovers) who believe that the best way to experience food and its place is through getting to know the people who prepared it and you share it with.

Why We Started This

In the heart of the busy streets of Taft Avenue, there is a community built on relationships between residents, vendors, and even students. Every food cart along the sidewalks have theur own story, often overlooked in the rush of everyday life. StrEAT Smart was born from the desire to document and share these stories, helping residents in Taft to discover the faces behind their favorite affordable eats. It’s our way of honoring the vendors who make Taft’s street food scene alive, while also encouraging residents and students to support local livelihoods.
